The Gnosis Safe for Teams is a multi-signature Ethereum wallet providing users with a convenient, secure way to manage their digital assets and interact with the decentralized web.
What is a smart-contract wallet? How is this different than other wallets, e.g. Coinbase Wallet?
There are two types of accounts on Ethereum, EOAs (externally owned accounts) and smart-contracts. EOAs are controlled by a single private key. If you own the private key associated with the EOA, you have the ability to send ether and messages from the account. Smart contract accounts have their own code, and are controlled by code and implied rules. This allows us to implement more advanced and customizable features (beyond recovery phrase backups) such as daily limits, multi-factor-authentication and recovery mechanisms. In addition the Gnosis Safe supports modules that can be used to extend functionality.
How is this different from the Gnosis Multisig?
Gnosis Safe for Teams takes the best features of the Gnosis Multisig and makes them even better. This means better gas efficiency, improved user experience, and enhanced security features.
When will the Gnosis Safe for Teams be available?
We expect to release a first mainnet version of the Gnosis Safe for Teams later this year. But you can sign up for the beta version above.
Do I need to store a recovery phrase?
No. The Gnosis Safe for Teams does not use a recovery phrase. However, you interact with the Gnosis Safe for Teams using other (third-party) wallets, which typically require some sort of key / recovery phrase management.
Can I use Trezor or Ledger to interact with the Safe for Teams?
Yes. Even though we currently don't feature a direct integration with any hardware wallets, you can use Metamask to connect your Trezor or Ledger to the Gnosis Safe for Teams.
Will you implement feature X?
We always appreciate feature requests from our users, so please let us know if you think something is missing.
Can I store Bitcoin/EOS/Ripple on the Gnosis Safe for Teams?
No. The Gnosis Safe only support assets of the Ethereum blockchain which means you can store ETH and ERC-20 tokens.
